Generation X
9 October 1977 · Chancellor Hall, Chelmsford
Why this date is now in the archive
This appearance is independently listed by several Generation X and Chancellor Hall research sources. The detailed Generation X day-by-day chronology records 9 October 1977 — Chelmsford, Chancellor Hall — The Crabs / Generation X. The Chancellor Hall venue index also lists Generation X with The Crabs on 9 October 1977.
This is separate from the band's later Chancellor Hall appearance on 2 April 1978. The two dates must not be merged simply because the same band played the same venue.

What remains open
The surviving Chancellor Hall source PDF contains an undated Generation X artefact. It remains useful evidence, but the archive does not assume that it belongs to one of these two performances until the artefact itself can be matched.
