New Memorabilia Contributions

Six supplied memorabilia/event items for the Chelmsford Rocks rebuild. The images are preserved as supplied. Where an item does not print a year, the archive does not silently invent one.

Archive rule: an image can establish what is visibly printed on it, but that is not always the same thing as establishing the date of the event. Candidate dates from outside research are labelled as research leads rather than silently promoted to fact.
Ticket or advertisement for Skin Alley with Hawkwind and Decameron at the Civic Theatre, Chelmsford
Local event · year not printed

Skin Alley · Hawkwind · Decameron

Civic Theatre, Chelmsford · Sunday 21 December · 7.30

The surviving image advertises Skin Alley in concert with Hawkwind and Decameron. Ticket price shown: 7/6. John Ridley Projects Ltd is named.

External research places Hawkwind at the Civic Theatre, Chelmsford on 21 December 1969. That is retained as a research lead here because the supplied item itself does not print the year.

Handwritten Northern Mod and Soul Club flyer for an all-dayer at Galleywood Youth Centre
Local event · year not printed

Northern Mod & Soul Club

Galleywood Youth Centre, Watchouse Road, Chelmsford · Sunday 21 April

The handwritten flyer advertises an all-dayer from 2.00pm to 10.30pm, with refreshments available. The names Paul Spain, Sparky, Tim Bodeen and John Wisby are visible on the flyer.

The supplied flyer does not print a year. It is therefore kept as an undated event lead until another source fixes the date.

Memorabilia · photographed 2011

Badges, papers and small ephemera

The supplied social-media screenshot, dated 21 September 2011, shows Dr Feelgood Rizla paper, a Thin Lizzy item, Vambo Rool, Sneakin' Suspicion and a Sounds Heavy Metal Kids badge.

This is memorabilia evidence rather than a gig record. The image does not establish where or when each individual object was originally issued.

The Gents New Direction National Tour flyer for the YMCA Chelmsford, Wednesday 29 May
Local event · year not printed

The Gents · The Way Out

YMCA Chelmsford · Wednesday 29 May · 8.00 till 11.15 · £2.50

The flyer names the Tin Soldiers Mod Society, describes the appearance as part of the 'New Direction' National Tour, and names The Gents with The Way Out.

The supplied flyer does not print a year. It is therefore retained as an undated local event lead. The wording and tour reference are preserved for later comparison with contemporary material. Rob Messer is named on the flyer as the ticket-order contact; the person who supplied this copy is not recorded.

Pure Mania tour poster for The Vibrators listing 26th June at Chancellor Hall Chelmsford
MR-006 · Event corroboration · dated

The Vibrators · Pure Mania tour poster

26 June · Chancellor Hall, Chelmsford

The supplied tour poster for The Vibrators' Pure Mania tour prints the itinerary entry “26th Chancellor Hall Chelmsford” in the June section of the tour. It directly supports the archive's selected 26 June 1977 Chancellor Hall record; the “26th” is not a July date.

The poster is preserved as supplied. The year is not printed in the itinerary itself; the 1977 year comes from the surrounding event/archive record. A separate 7 July Chancellor Hall entry remains a distinct record rather than being merged with 26 June.

What has been added to the archive

  • Three new Chelmsford gig/flyer leads, with printed wording retained.
  • One memorabilia photograph preserving objects without turning them into unsupported event records.
  • One dated Canvey Island ticket cross-referenced to the existing Away Gig archive.
  • One supplied Vibrators tour poster that directly corroborates the 26 June Chancellor Hall date.
