Bethnal — what the surviving Where & When list says
The archive has now checked the actual surviving Where and When source rather than relying only on external gig databases.
Why this matters
This is a valuable first-hand archive clue. The list was part of the site owner's own historical record, so it captures what he remembered when the list was compiled. It does not give a precise day or month, and it does not say 1979.
That means the personal memory currently points toward 1977 or 1978, while the separate documentary research has identified a Chancellor Hall Bethnal listing for 30 October 1977 and strong contemporary evidence for another appearance in March 1979.
Archive decision
Personal memory
The surviving Where & When list records Bethnal at Chancellor Hall as 1977 or 78. The site owner also remembers seeing Bethnal but cannot now confirm the exact date.
Documentary evidence
External gig research currently supports 30 October 1977 and a separate 18 March 1979 date, with a later listing giving 25 March 1979. These are kept as documentary evidence rather than being forced to match the personal list.
What remains open
The 1978 possibility in the personal list is not currently assigned to a specific Chancellor Hall date. A ticket, poster, local advert, photograph or contemporary newspaper report could resolve that.
Source preservation
The original PDF remains preserved in the archive under archive-source/Where and When.pdf. The duplicate supplied source, Where and When.pdf, carries the same Bethnal wording.
