28 February 1978 — The Enid — Chancellor Hall
The contemporary evidence
Record Mirror dated 25 February 1978 carries a newsdesk item headed THE ENID which says the band had added Kingston Poly 25 and Chelmsford Chancellor Hall 28 to its dates.
This is useful because it is a contemporary booking notice published before the Chelmsford date, rather than a later online venue list. It establishes a strong contemporary record that The Enid was booked/listed for Chancellor Hall on 28 February.

Why this matters to the later Enid/End dispute
The archive already contains a separate unresolved 8 October 1978 Chancellor Hall discrepancy, where contemporary Record Mirror issues conflict over The End and The Enid. This February 1978 record is a different date and is not being used to settle the October dispute.
The site owner remembers that both The Enid and The End were advertised for 8 October 1978, but did not attend either. That personal memory remains publicity evidence, not proof that either October booking went ahead.
Archive decision
28 February 1978 — The Enid is included as a strongly supported contemporary booking record. It is not described as ticket-backed or as independently witnessed in Chelmsford.
