Status: strong contemporary evidence. This appearance is not currently ticket-backed, but a contemporary Record Mirror tour notice gives the date and venue directly.
The evidence
The 8 April 1978 issue of Record Mirror printed a Whirlwind tour schedule running through April. It specifically gives Chelmsford Chancellor Hall — April 28, followed by Manchester Rafters on April 29 and London Nashville on April 30.
The same schedule is independently echoed by the surviving Chancellor Hall venue chronology. The contemporary newspaper notice is the stronger evidence because it was published before the show and names the venue and date.
Archive decision
28 April 1978 — Whirlwind is now included in the working Chancellor Hall chronology as a strongly supported appearance. It is not described as ticket-backed because no matching ticket has yet been found in the surviving archive.
