Chancellor Hall — surviving artefacts
A source-derived catalogue of the Chancellor Hall material visibly identified in the surviving four-page source PDF. This page is an artefact index, not a reconstructed chronology.
How to read this page
The underlying source is the surviving Chancellor Hall PDF, dated 13 May 2021. It displays tickets, adverts, magazine material, flyers and photographs. A label here means the item is identified in that source; it does not by itself establish an exact performance date, lineup, billing or venue history beyond what the artefact itself shows.
Identified artefacts
The Clash — 27 May 1977 ticket
The surviving ticket is the primary date evidence for the current event record. A separate May 29 promotional advert survives in the same PDF and is retained as a distinct artefact rather than being allowed to override the ticket.
The Damned — 1977 ticket
Ticket artefact explicitly shown in the surviving Chancellor Hall source PDF.
Penetration — Sunday 13 May ticket
Pink ticket explicitly shown in the surviving Chancellor Hall source PDF. It is printed for Sunday 13 May but does not print a year. The source-sheet caption says “Penetration Ticket 1978”; that caption is retained as catalogue provenance. Independent venue evidence now supports 13 May 1979 for this ticket, so the caption is not treated as the event date.
Wilko Johnson — 21 May 1978 ticket
The surviving ticket prints Sunday, May 21st 1978, 8 p.m., Wilko Johnson’s Solid Spenders and special guests, No. 441. The archive preserves the printed wording while the event record uses the supported band name.
The Undertones — Sunday 3 June ticket
Ticket artefact explicitly shown in the surviving Chancellor Hall source PDF. The ticket itself is printed “Sunday, June 3rd” and does not print a year. The old source-sheet label says “Undertones 1978 Ticket”, but calendar checking makes 1979 the compatible year in the 1977–1980 range; independent Chancellor Hall listings place The Undertones at the venue on 3 June 1979.
The Fantoms — 1982
The source PDF labels a surviving Chancellor Hall artefact “The Fantoms 1982”.
Dr Feelgood — 1975
The source PDF labels a surviving Chancellor Hall artefact “Dr Feelgood 1975”; this is catalogue evidence, not a reconstructed gig record.
Clash — Sounds Magazine, 1977
Magazine material shown in the surviving source PDF.
Chancellor Hall adverts
Multiple advert artefacts are shown in the source PDF.
Radio Stars — 3 September 1978 ticket
The surviving ticket explicitly prints Sunday, 3rd September 1978, 8 p.m., Radio Stars plus support, ticket No. 333. This is now matched to the dated event record.
Buzzcocks — Chancellor Hall ticket
Ticket explicitly shown in the surviving source PDF, printed for Sunday 12 March. The ticket does not print a year; the archive matches it substantially to the 12 March 1978 event record.
Cockney Rebel — Chancellor Hall

Heavy Metal Kids — Chancellor Hall

Ticket research note
The surviving PDF contains two separate Penetration artefacts: a pink ticket for Sunday 13 May with no printed year, and a separate advert explicitly dated 12 November 1978. They are catalogued separately to avoid turning one act into one assumed event.

Next research step
Where an artefact carries a date or event wording, it can be matched against the event evidence register, tickets, posters and independent sources. Items without a date remain catalogue evidence until corroborated. Where a ticket gives a weekday and day/month but no year, the calendar is used as a research filter before accepting a catalogue label.
