Chelmsford Folk Club Catalogue Index

A practical index of surviving Essex Record Office catalogue records already established in this archive. Each entry keeps the catalogue reference, date and surviving description together so that researchers can move from the Chelmsford Rocks interpretation back to the external archival record.

Evidence rule: these are catalogue records, not a reconstructed complete programme. A catalogue entry tells us what survives and how the archive describes it; it does not establish that every other performer or date from the same period has been found.

How to use the catalogue

Catalogue description

The external record is the authority for what the archive catalogue currently says about each surviving item. Chelmsford Rocks preserves that distinction rather than turning catalogue descriptions into broader claims.

Access is separate

Essex Record Office says some recordings are available online through Essex Archives Online, while others can only be accessed in the searchroom because of copyright restrictions. Original recordings are not issued; access copies are provided instead.

Wider collection

The Record Office's folk-music guide says Jim Etheridge recorded almost every Chelmsford Folk Club between 1978 and 1986, often capturing whole evenings. That describes the surviving collection context; it is not used here to manufacture missing session records.
