Recording run meets the paper trail
The surviving paper collection covers Chelmsford Folk Club material from the Golden Fleece and DJs Clubroom through newsletters and later British Legion Hall material. Separately, the Essex Record Office recording collection contains named Chelmsford sessions from 1982–1986. Together they show two surviving kinds of documentation operating across the same broad period, without proving that every paper item corresponds to a recorded night.

Sarah Graves and the surviving club records
Sarah Graves's oral history recalls attending Chelmsford Folk Club as a teenager, singing with Judy Taylor during 1975–78, and later helping run the club in the 1980s. The surviving paper trail covers guest lists, newsletters and venue changes across that same broad era. The overlap supports the picture of an active, changing club, but does not identify every performer from the paper records.

Colin Cater and the club network
Colin Cater's oral history recalls joining Chelmsford Folk Club after moving to Essex, hearing performers there, and seeing the club move through different venues and management arrangements. Annie Harding's oral history separately recalls regular movement between Chelmsford, Brentwood, Havering and Blackmore Folk Clubs. The wider paper collection independently preserves material from several of those Essex clubs.
