What the surviving Chancellor Hall source records show

Punk and new wave

The surviving Chancellor Hall source sheet brings together material for The Clash, The Damned, 999, The Vibrators, Generation X, The Undertones, Buzzcocks, The Slits and other acts. Tickets, adverts and tour material form a substantial part of the surviving record.

A wider programme

The source also preserves material for Dr Feelgood, Penetration, Wilko Johnson, Radio Stars, Cockney Rebel, Heavy Metal Kids, Bill Nelson and later acts including Ghost Dance, The Wolfgang Press and From The Jam.

Original artefacts

The surviving source collection includes tickets, flyers, adverts, magazine material and photographs. Where an artefact carries a particular spelling, wording or printed detail, the archive keeps that evidence rather than silently rewriting the original.

Presented as surviving archive material. The image itself is not treated as proof of a particular event unless the accompanying source establishes that connection.
